MAGNUS 3T scanner in Air Force

The 7th installation of the GEHC's MAGNUS scanner was completed in the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The scanner will be used to study the brain of military personnel under various combat- and training-related conditions and perform neurological research. This is the 2nd installation in a military setting, following the very first siting of the investigational scanner at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington DC, in 2020. Much synergy is expected to come out from the two sites' collaboration. The Walter Reed scanner will be upgraded this year to the now-standard, 300 mT/m and 750 T/m/s performance of MAGNUS.
